In Room Dining Order Taker Overnight

The In Room Dining Order Taker Overnight interacts and collaborates with servers to accurately take orders and ensure they are delivered to guest rooms in a timely manner. Key in the daily duties of this position is interacting with other departments in overnight operations to serve our guests and create unforgettable experiences, always upholding the path of P.R.I.D.E: Passion, Respect, Integrity, Dedication, and Empowerment. Skill and Knowledge Requirements:

  • Knowledge of food and wine
  • Experience in serving or hosting at a high-volume restaurant or bar
  • Basic computer skills
  • Knowledge of English including proper spelling and grammar

Job Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Input guest orders in Micros and ensure all special guest requests are communicated
  • Be knowledgeable of all food and beverage be able to make articulate recommendations and suggestions regarding all menu items
  • Monitor guest orders to ensure all orders are delivered on time.
  • Accurately posts payments to the POS system
  • Ensures trays are promptly removed from the floors once the guest has finished
  • Ensures restocking of all room service items and side work is completed

Typical Day:  Every shift as an overnight order taker in IRD begins with the shift pass-on from the PM captain. If there are any guest issues or concerns that need to be communicated to the oncoming shift, this information is relayed to the overnight order taker. The bulk of the shift will include answering guests’ calls, placing orders at the Micros terminal, and setting up trays and tables to ensure timely delivery. Communicating promptly and clearly with other servers, the kitchen, other departments such as engineering and housekeeping, and the overnight MOD are essential for addressing all guest issues and requests.
