Director of Engineering

The Director of Engineering is a highly visible role leading and developing the engineering teams and operations. You will be responsible for designing and directing the effective and consistent delivery of maintenance and operational excellence throughout the building and ownership entities. While accomplishing the preventive maintenance enhancing our guest experience, you will also support repairs and renovation projects for the hotel, its equipment and systems, aiming for high quality maintenance and controlled financial impacts.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee maintenance of all aspects of The Joule’s grounds and property
  •  Oversee hotel safety and security policies and processes
  • Manage Capital Expenditure and FF&E programs, including planning, expense tracking, obtaining bids, managing vendor relationships, project management, etc.
  • Establish cost improvement objectives and implement action plans
  • Implement inventory standards and procedures to consistently conduct an accurate inventory
  • Full upkeep of the property’s Preventative Maintenance program, including tracking, scheduling and assigning projects, reporting, and updating the plan based on the needs of the business
  • Lead hotel walkthroughs, identify repairs, general maintenance, and preventative maintenance needs and deploy team accordingly
  • Establish and maintain standards for guest response and interaction; ensure that all guest requests are responded to promptly and with genuine care
  • Assist with any special project involving building improvements, renovations, and repairs
  • Oversee, approve, and post all engineering staff schedules according to hotel standards; manage labor cost controls through effective scheduling and proactive management
  • Manage any third-party relationships required to perform any of the stated responsibilities
  • Review P&L and General Ledgers to determine how the engineering team is performing against budget, provide P&L critiques to explain financial performance, and coordinate team to address any operational concerns that directly affect financial performance
  • Ensure building and equipment licenses, permits and certifications are current
  • Manage equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, and electrical systems in accordance with hotel standards

  • Worked on Executive Committee at an independent, luxury hospitality organization
  • Worked closely with Executive Teams; ability to share strong POV while understanding that decision-making authority may lie above
